A fresh look at a common children's book theme

"Tiny for a Day" takes the not-uncommon theme of a child being shrunk to the size of a mouse and gives a fresh spin to it. Child genius Sidney can invent practically anything (and the cartoon people thought Dexter and Jimmy Neutron were so original!) When he invents a shrinking machine, he goes through some of the usual high points/low points of being so tiny (a little food becomes a feast, he can ride his dog to school). What makes this different is how Sidney learns everyday tasks are now so much more difficult now that he is tiny (such as coloring with a crayon as big as he is). One event that, strangely, I have never seen in another book on shrinking: Sidney enters his classroom at school and experiences his classmates' reaction to seeing him mouse-sized ("Ha Ha! You look like a bug!")
