This story is of an english schoolboy who stays at his teacher's home who happens to be a good witch. All kinds of adventures happen, my favorite part was how his bed would turn into a boat gently rocking on the ocean every night. In the end with the help of some friends, Timothy overcomes the bad witch and all is well. I loved this book when I was little and always remembered it like the other readers, it's just one of those books that stays with you. I'd love to read it again to and with my children and am going to try and find it again.
Good vs. Evil

This was my very favorite book at age 9 and I still love it! My son just read it and is doing his book report (3rd grade). I believe it was my first encounter with a "good vs. evil" theme, and luckily, good won out!!! Melinda enraptured me with her blonde hair that blew and the way she could make doors open just by touching them. My favorite part was when a tree sprouted up out of the kitchen table and when the leaves opened, they revealed little cakes with Timothy and Ellen's names on them. The black witch, with her bony arms and wrinkled face, scared me silly! I kept my copy, which is tattered from reading, and has a 75 cent price tag! I hope you all can find one.....and I wish Margaret Storey had written more books!
Haunting and memorable book

This was apparently the first book I ever read entirely by myself, at four. The images from the book still haunt me: a kitchen with a tree growing through the floor and up into the ceiling, a magical book with pictures that move, and a garden that leads into... somewhere else. Unlike the other reviewer, I'm still trying to track down a copy!
A book that stayed in my mind for years after being read

I read this book once, at a friend's house, as a young child. The story stayed somewhere in the back of my mind for years, or rather the mood, the world, that this haunting story created. I couldn't remember the title for so long, until finally one day it came back to me and I was finally able to find it at a library and read it again. It was just as good as I remembered. Look for it!
