My All Time Favorite Book

This has been my favorite book for close to ten years. Incredibly complex so if you're looking for a book to just while away the time and drift with, this is not the one. But if you're looking for a book that's intense, with characters whose emotions can be felt through the prose you've found the right book. Timeshadow Rider blends sci-fi, romance and the extraordinary with a touch of mystery and suspense indescribably well. But a note of warning, do not try to read this when you are pressed for time, when you'll have to put it down for long periods of time or in snatches on lunch breaks and commutes to and from work. All that will do is frustrate you as you'll have to spend time reimmersing yourself in this vivid and extremely well detailed world before things start to make sense again. This is a book that will leave you thoroughly satisfied the first time you read it and increase in depth each successive read-through. Everytime I read it I find some new little nuance that I missed the first time and makes the book even better. That's incredible considering how much I enjoyed it the first time I read it. There's another reviewer that got it exactly right, this is a book that will leave you with the feeling that all is right with the world. Last bit of advice, some of the names look to be tongue twisters pick your preferrence for pronunciation and keep reading. If you allow yourself to get hung up on how to pronounce Za'arain or kiriy you're going to miss the point of the story

A Time tour de force

I found this book to be intrigueing and facinating. Yes, this book could be exhausting but no more so then Tolkien's Hobbit and much less dry in its background. It's maze-like but then so is Time in all its guises and possiblities. I like how the author tied the expanse of space and time together, bringing in psi abilities and their effect on creativity and ingenuity. She also seemed to epitomize the trek theme..infinite diversity in infinite ways. The romance in it was well done. My advice grab the cat, your favorite snack and curl up for a good ride.

I wish there were more futuristic titles by this author.

Hi, I've read several of Ann Maxwell/Elizabeth Lowell's books, but the books that I've enjoyed most were the FUTURISTIC ones. I really enjoyed them because most "futuristic" romance writers just transfer the me-babarian, you-sex-slave approach found in historicals to a different planet and call it "futuristic." I really enjoyed the Ann Maxwell futuristic books because the heroine was strong and admirable instead of some wimp who would sell her freedom for good sex. Once again, I would like to say that I really wish that Ann Maxwell would write more FUTURISTIC books.

One of my all time favorite

I found this book in a used bookstore about 8 years ago and I was hoked on Ann Maxwell from then on. The reprinted edition placed her book in the Romance section when in reality it is a Science Fiction with romantic twists. The story is beautiful, romantic, imaginative and it definitely touched my soul everytime I read it. Rather than the regular complacent romance novels with their common plotlines, this book got me hooked from the getgo. So if you're into science fiction, fantasy, this book will not disapoint. If you're a romance fan, this book is way better than any romance novel and you will love it. Anyone who give it a 3 stars is either lacking in imagination or too lazy to exercise his or her mind in a great book. Now, my only problem is finding all her other out-of-print SF novels. However, for those of you who might be confused, to simplify, the author depicts a universe where men and women are born with soulmates who, if they are luck enought, will find each other through endless lifetimes. the world Sharia and Kane came from has a millions of years old civilization. the people have either 4, 5, or 6 fingers on each hand. One of its taboo is that those with the same # of fingers are forbidden to touch. More importantly, their culture forbid those who are soulmates to touch or mate and exiles the male counterparts offworld. The reason for this taboo is a prophesy that one day, there will be a pair of soulmates who, if they touch, will destroy the universe with the unleshing of their combined power. You can figure out who the couple is...

THE GREATEST!!!!!!!!!

I simply cannot imagine how anyone could not absolutely love this wonderful book. The love story was beautiful and engrossing, the plot was suspenseful and well thought out and the characters were to die for. I am an avid reader of science-fiction, fantasy, and romance novels and this book captured elements of all of them. I have read this book more than a dozen times and love it each time. Anyone who likes romance and science-fiction will absolutely love this book!!!!
