Mr. Creitz has written an extremely educational book about the state of the educational system in the U.S. and the little and not-so-little steps necessary to change it so that more children can succeed. As the parent of two children under 3, I'll be buying more copies of this book to give to my girls' future teachers! However, the book is not just for teachers -- I would highly recommend this book to other parents who are interested in their children's' education. Also, mayors, governors, heads of school boards, principals -- really anyone trying to or needing to revamp their educational system -- should use this book as a useful tool to guide them in taking small or big steps towards their goal. The first half of the book discusses how we got where we are today in our schools and the key factors (time and timing, flexibility - among others) he sees as being necessary for change. The second half uses school subjects (math, reading, etc), to illustrate how these key factors are crucial in all aspects of education. The book is a great read, as Mr. Creitz's writing style is fluid and easy. He uses anecdotes from his own experience as a teacher and administrator that serve to reinforce the main points of the chapters.
