Book Overview

The former NFL great, now a Today show correspondent, teams up with his renowned trainer to reveal the phenomenal lifting program that made him a gridiron star. Tiki Barber's Pure Hard Workout

This was a super fast shipment, this book is great. Thanks,

Its all about hard work

I heard Tiki on the radio and eventually bought the book. Tiki's football career got a tremendous boost from the workout program put together by Joe Carini, a power lifter from New Jersey. Joe runs the "House of Iron" gym. He also shrugs 1,400 lbs, no kidding. Don't expect anything fancy here. There is no space-age equipment, none of those silly bouncy workout balls that are all the rage at other gyms. Carini stresses intense workouts and lots of iron. To give you an idea, I visited Carini's gym to discuss his methods. He told me that once I got used to the program I could vary it some. For example I could put chains on the bar for bench press. Chains on the bar? for variety? Are you kidding me? When I met Carini he was training an NFL defensive lineman. What I found surprising was that neither Tiki nor the lineman looked huge. It turns out that using the system you can develop great strength without looking like the Hulk. The book has good pictures and suggested workouts but it needed a better editor. Joe and Tiki each essentially tell the same story about how Tiki succeeded with the system. Its worth the price though. The relative simplicity of the system will show you that the real key to getting strong is hard work.
