Tigger (Giant Board Book)

ISBN 0525462333 - I find myself with mixed feelings about the rating of this one, so I'm going with 4 stars and admitting I've been waffling between 3 and 4 for five minutes before committing. I feel like Eeyore. On with the review. Tigger loves to bounce. He bounces to visit his friends and, sometimes, he bounces his way into trouble - which is when he's very glad to have those friends! The reason I had trouble deciding how many stars I thought this book really deserved is simple: there's no story here. Really, there's not. The text is so basic and so limited that there aren't enough words to make a story. That bothered me a bit, but I've got to admit that the book isn't for me. It isn't for pre-teens or romance readers or those that go through textbooks for fun. The book's audience is 0-3. They gnaw on books more than they read them and, when they do read them, they're just learning - they don't need to be overwhelmed by too many words, or by big words. This book is great for them! The illustrations are from The House at Pooh Corner and are the original ones by Ernest H. Shepard; if you're only into the slick Disney version, you'll be disappointed. Board book pages stand up to some rough handling and are turned easily by less-than-nimble fingers. The fact that the book is shaped (somewhat) like Tigger will definitely make it a standout on your shelf. It's oversized, making it a little tough to hold in a tiny lap and not great as a take-along book. All Pooh and Friends fans will want this one, not to mention Pooh (Giant Board Book), EEYORE, Giant Shaped Board Book (Pooh Giant Shaped Board Books), and Piglet (Giant Board Book). - AnnaLovesBooks

My son loves it!

My 18 month old son loves the Winnie the Pooh stories and characters. His favourite is, of course, Tigger, and this new addition to his library is much loved. The text is large and quite basic - just explaining on one page, for example, that Tigger climbs a tree, and on the next page, that he can't climb back down again (uh oh!) which means it's a fast moving read. It's great that it's in the shape of Tigger, too. I believe there's also a Pooh Bear shaped one in the series, that I might purchase next time.

Terrific book for little ones!

I just ordered this book for my 16 month old daughter and she loves it! She can easily turn the pages by herself and the story is short and simple so I can read it to her and it holds her attention. This is a wonderful book.

My daughter LOVES this book!

My 17 month old daughter chooses this book for us to read everyday. This is a short, simple book with appealing, classic illustrations. Perfect book for an active toddler. I highly recommend it!

My 2 year old loves this book!

I have a 2 year old book who loves these large board books because they are very inviting. The pages have large type with simple sentences. The pictures are Classic Pooh, not the Disney cutsey kind.
