all about the many patterns

The book was direct and to the point. It showed various patterns and how to achieve them. They are all colored pictures of the results. It is all about doing and not about "talk"--why tie dye, history of, etc., that I saw in the reviews of other books on the same topic. I had a hard time deciding which patterns I wanted to try, they were all great looking and interesting.

Great book to get beginners started

For those who were too young to experience the 70's, and feel left out of the "hippie era", this book will give you a chance to capture a bit of it's feeling. Tie-dye, while being mostly associated with the 70's, has been around since the 10th century and is still popular today. This book has clear, concise instructions and beautiful color photos to guide the beginner to a beautiful finished project, whether it be a silk scarf or shirt or a duvet cover and pillowcases. While it includes the usual concentric circle patterns most people are familiar with, this book also includes many other wonderful patterns that can be achieved using items from around the house, such as paperclips, wood clothespins, string, etc. While it doesn't provide a source for the dyes, it does state that the dyes needed for these projects are cold-water dyes...something a beginner can locate fairly easily.
