Rabbit and Mole are best friends and roommates. They have a great friendship, but sometimes it gets a little strained. In this charming story, Rabbit is desperately trying to get to sleep, but the noise of the clock ticking and the faucet dripping and the cat purring are driving him mad Mole is kind enough to quiet the noises so they can both get to sleep, but soon it is Rabbit keeping Mole awake with his snoring. At last, Mole finds some peace downstairs in an overstuffed chair by a roaring fire, where he finally falls fast asleep. A perfect bedtime story for all ages.
My two year old son, like many toddlers, is very inquistive as to every little sound he hears such as beeping timers, ringing elevator bells, ticking car turn signals, train whistles, etc. that when I saw the title of this book I though he might like it. I was right. I checked this book out from my public library and will be buying a copy for my son because he loves it so much. When I read Tick Tock Drip Drop to him I create my own sound effects by imitating to the best of my abilities the sound of a ticking clock, dripping faucet, purring cat, creaking gate and snoring. My son gets such a kick out of this book. Sometimes he listens intently while I read and other times he tries to imitate the sounds after me. The artwork in this book is great too, very colorful and detailed.
A FUN BEDTIME STORY

Rabbits and moles need sleep, too! But, that's not easy for this pair of best friends who live together. After they've retired for the night Rabbit tosses and turns because the ticking of the clock is keeping him awake. Thoughtful Mole remedies that by stopping the clock. Still no dreamland for Rabbit as now the drip-drip of a drippy faucet is keeping him awake. Mole to the rescue again - he turns off the water. Still no rest for the weary as then the purring of their red cat keeps Rabbit awake, so good hearted Mole puts the cat downstairs. Wouldn't you know? There's something else keeping Rabbit awake - it's the banging of the garden gate. Of course, Mole braves the cold to secure the garden gate. At last, Rabbit falls fast asleep. Wouldn't you think that Mole's good deeds would be rewarded? Not at all. Rabbit snores so loudly that Mole can't sleep. Ask your young ones to guess what Mole will do now. - Gail Cooke
