Marie LaPres has a way of drawing you into the lives of her characters. You are there with them feeling their joy as well as their sorrow. This takes place during the Civil War. I have not studied the Civil War since high school. I don't remember a lot about it but this book peaked my interest. It takes place in Gettysburg. I have found myself drawn to visit Gettysburg. Some of the people she writes about were real and the events were real. Some are fiction. It is a tremendous book. I recommend it for any one to read.
