Thongor defeats the wizards of Zaar

Thongor of Valkarth, based on the pre-Hindu Puranas, was first novelized in the 1960s by Lin Carter, who also helped write or rewrite the Conan stories for Lancer Books. Thongor, the sole survivor of a war between his tribe, the Black Hawk tribe, and another tribe, the Snow Bear people. Thongor was a wander, a slave, a thief, and an assassin. He was in the arena in Thurdis. When he became Sark-of-Sarks, he elevated his friend Ald Thurmis to the sarkdom of Shembis. He kills the surviving wizards of Zaar in a duel. The last to die is Maldruth, the Prince of Red Magic.
