Book Overview

"Another blockbuster Thomas Jefferson and the Tripoli Pirates reads like an edge-of-your-seat, page-turning thriller. You will love this book and also wonder why so few people know this story. No one captures the danger, intrigue, and drama of the American Revolution and its aftermath like Brian Kilmeade and Don Yaeger." --Brad Thor

Great Book

Enjoyed this book. An historically accurate account that reads like a novel. I would recommend to anyone interested in the early history of our country.

Not Written Well

While I found the information in this book very interesting, the actual writing was not done well. I realize our society has slipped a LOT in its literary skills, but I could not even recommend this to my 14 year old grandson because it's so poorly written. I don't know if the authors were attempting to write on a kid's level and underrated the ability of our young people.....or if they're just not up to the level of other historical writers. Or perhaps they chose the lowest level of young people to address. Regardless, I can't, in good faith. purchase any more books from these two authors (and I use that term very lightly)! As to the content, it was quite informative. I just didn't find it worth suffering through the lack of writing skills to purchase another. (Oh and this was my second attempt from these two, so I've given them a fair turn, I believe)!

Must read

This as a very well written history book of a niché point in early American history that doesn't feel like a history book. The authors have done much research and give alot of great detail about the minds and motivations of the big and small individuals in this story. This book isn't a very heavy read and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I had no idea. This helped me understand several things about today's world.

I would never have thought to pick up essentially a history book - that it would be a page turner. I couldn't put it down. I don't think I've ever cried while reading a book, but I know my eyes got misty at a couple of points in this book. I am just fascinated by the life giving heroics of some men and the evilness, self serving greed of others. This book lets the facts (via personal journals and reports) tell the real story. You be the judge.
