Not For Everyone

I did not feel like the target audience for this book, and although it was a nice reminder about the ways alcohol is promoted and accepted in society despite the known negative health consequences, there are many assumptions made about the reasons why people drink and my own experience was completely different than what the author laid out, so I couldn't relate to many of the arguments. Overall it's a little repetitive and written with some marketing/advertising persuasion, but it could be a great eye opener to someone who is just beginning to question their drinking habits. For me, it fell flat and did not address the spiritual aspects of alcohol abuse that go beyond physical experiences.

Helped Me To See That "Life Is Fine Without Wine"

As a busy professional woman, I thought I "deserved" a glass or two of wine every night. However, with an ancestry of alcoholism in the family, I knew I had to get a handle on it. A friend recommended this book to help me see the effects of alcohol on the brain. Annie writes with real science and actual facts about what happens to our brain and body when we have alcohol. After reading (and highlighting) most of the book, I watched her videos where she answers questions from real people. So grateful to have come across this amazing resource to help me see that a glass or two or three of wine was not fine. I feel so much better just giving up the wine and regaining my brain.
