For Young Hearts...And Older Ones Too.

Whether singing Soul or Gospel, Candi Staton's voice has a unique sincerity warmth and reality in it's tone-and that's the same feeling that comes through in her life story. If you want a glossy showbiz rags to riches tale, look elsewhere. This book is the real deal,written in a simple, direct and unaffected style that conveys the lows of Candi's former life (despite all those hit records) and the triumph of her spiritual awakening. Throughout the book there's a sense of great warmth and great honesty. You may or may not share her spirituality but this is a book which will make an impact on anyone who's got a soul.

Triumphant Story!

I have always been a huge Candi Staton fan and truly love her music. This book is an inspirational book, in that it tells the struggles and fame she has attained while singing soul music. The book also covers the time in her life where she was lost, confused, and depressed. But the essence of the book lies within the part where she accepts the Lord Jesus back into her life. The book is wonderful and will touch your heart. I am so glad that she took the time to share her life experiences with us and let all of us realize that with the love of Jesus, we can live a happy and fulfilling life. Again, this is an EXCELLENT book and I hope that a lot of her past albums are re-released, because she deserves far more recognition than she already has.

The most inspiritional book I have read so far.

I just recently rededicated my life to Christ and Ms. Staton's book really helped me to find my way back completely. Her book goes to show you can have all the money in the world and still be unhappy, without Jesus in your life there is no happiness. The best message that I received from Ms. Staton life was when she received the holy spirit. I went to my church that night and I went to the alter call to receive the holy spirit (page 136). I went out and purchased one of Ms. Staton's gospel tapes. She has lifted my spirit so I cannot express it all in words. I love all of the songs on the cassette but the one that really lift my spirits is "Jesus God of Salvation". You can see God in her face on the book cover. I am sending my copy of her book to a friend of mind so that she can also be blessed. When she was out in the world and I would listen to her music I never knew that she was so unhappy. This shines light on my feelings for all singers that I passed judgement on. Candi I love you and you have truly been a blessing to my heart. Oh by the way I am going to read your story over and over again.
