IS BLOOD REALLY THICKER THAN WATER?

When Bennie Rosato discovered the existence of an identical twin sister, Alice Connelly, she did everything she could to help her out, even defending her in a murder trial, which she won. Now, years later, Alice has reappeared and during a get-together with Bennie, spikes her drink and then buries her alive. Her goal--to impersonate her twin sister and take over her life, including her substantial assets. From this point on, the suspense mounts, as Alice becomes Bennie and Bennie is struggling to escape from the box in which she's buried. Bennie does escape and tries to get her life back, but Alice's machinations have resulted in nobody believing that Bennie is who she says she is. Alice has successfully stepped into her twin's life and is in the process of transferring all of Bennie's assets to a bank in the Bahamas. Now...anything further would totally spoil this story for you, so suffice it to say that the plot thickens and the suspense ratchets up to a crescendo pitch, forcing the reader to rapidly turn pages to find out what happens next. As an avid fan of Scottoline's work, I expected Think Twice to be a great read and I was not disappointed. Five stars at least!

RIVETING AND FAST PACED!!!

I am a huge Lisa Scottoline Fan, and "Think Twice' did not disappoint. I was drawn in from the first page, and unable to do anything else except finish this book. I was so sorry when the story ended. Lisa, I'm ready for the mext one!!

WHO ARE YOU?

Bennie Rosato and her twin Alice Connelly are at each other's throats literally. Mary DiNunzio has to choose who to believe and her family (crazy as ever) are instrumental in this case as well. A tense but interesting read

My Sister's Keeper

THINK TWICE by Lisa Scottoline is a suspense thriller that will keep you turning the pages to the climatic ending. Don't peak, it will spoil a fascinating read. This is my first Lisa Scottoline, but it will not be my last. Rennie Rosato regains consciousness to discover she has been buried alive. On Friday, she answered a call from her sister Alice Connolly to visit Alice's new home in rural PA and this is the last thing she remembers as she struggles to claw her way out of her tomb before she runs out of air. Alice Connolly must get out of town to save her own life and she plans the go in style as her wealthy sister. The narrative is fast paced and surprising as Alice blocks every avenue to her true identity. A fun read in a snow storm. Nash Black, author of SINS OF THE FATHERS.

No need to think twice: this one's terrific

Wow...it's good to have the original cast back again, making progress in their lives but tougher than ever. This time Scottoline tells the tale from the perspective of Bennie Rosato, owner of the all-woman law firm where Mary and Judy work. There's also Anne, who appeared briefly in an earlier novel, but she is conveniently on vacation in this volume. Scottoline's trademark is putting people in impossible situations and watching them carry it off. One she had a lawyer pretend to be an employee of another law firm. This time, she has Bennie's twin sister, Alice, impersonating Bennie. It all begins when Bennie tries to be supportive of her troubled twin, accepting a dinner invitation where Alice claims to be living. Bennie foils Alice's attempt to kill her but then (as the reader will expect) Bennie's troubles really begin. She has to convince the cops that's she's Bennie, not Alice, which is hard to do when she's dressed like Alice. She has to stop Alice's elaborate scheme to steal her life. Scottoline really hammers the reader. She juggles character viewpoints smoothly and convincingly. Her tone changes when we switch among Alice, Mary and Bennie. Mary and Judy are consistent with the characters Scottoline created in her very first book. We know just enough about Judy to keep interested. For a moment I thought we'd get to meet Judy's parents but no: we get more than enough of Mary's family. Let's just say that Judy's role in the plot was not surprising, given her character. Following mystery conventions, Scottoline ends every chapter with a cliffhanger. She introduces, for the first time I can remember in the series, something new in the character of Fiorella, a distant cousin who claims to be a witch. A finicky reader might complain about two points. First one character turns up a little too conveniently on the scene; however, this character creates a special test for Alice's deception and ultimately affects mostly Bennie's dog, Bear. Second, there was a lot of discussion about Mary becoming a partner in Bennie's firm, but wasn't Mary made partner in the very first book in the series, with a different firm? Wouldn't Mary and Judy remember so being made a partner would feel different the second time around? . Alas, this is one of those books that's hard to put down, yet leaves the reader sorry it's over at the end.
