McGraw Hill failure, no answers in the back of the book!!

Could be an excellent book for self study and reference. But there are no answers even for the odd numbered questions in the back of the book. I am 71, retired educator and live on a small farm. I have no desire or money to go to a brick building and put up with all the nonsense going on at university campuses today. A solutions manual is available but only with proper credentials or authorization by some university professor and of course enrollment in very expensive university or college. The book itself was in good shape except for the dog ears that are not protected for shipping. It was shipped very quickly. This seems like a great money making, textbook scheme for the authors, McGraw Hill and the university. They effectively shut out anyone wanting to learn thermodynamics except for the proper university student.

The book came on time, great seller!

The book was in near perfect condition. can't beat the price and it was shipped on time. thanks

Fantastic

Frankly, I think that this was one of the best engineering texts I have had. Granted, I am only a stupid mechanical engineer, but this book gives your all that you need for as a basis for heat transfer and other courses. Also included in the special topics are refrigerators. Yes, they are random, but they actually connected pulling values out of tables with real life. The book had good examples, and enough of them. The text was readable and straightforward. Something that I rather like is that the pictures were in red, black, and white. I think it makes the pages less distracting and easier to read (although sometimes it does take an extra minute to figure out the diagram). I am not sure what the DVD was--some software, I believe, but no professor ever bothers to use it. That is what I wish they had cut to save money.

THE BEST THERMODYNAMICS BOOK......EVER!!!!

If you thing thermodynamics is just another boring part of Science, this book makes you feel completely interested!! Since the beginning, the main concepts are clarifyed and the difficulty increases with time, but it doesn't bother you anymore because there are no doubts. This book, is an investment for learning. As an Spanish-speaking Chemical Engineering from Mexico, this is the most useful and concise book I've ever had!!

A MODEL BOOK FOR TEACHERS AND INSTRUCTORS

I HAVE GONE THROUGH THE BOOK THERMODYNAMICS BY YUNUS CENGEL AND MICHAEL BOLES AND FOUND IT EXTREMELY USEFUL. THE LANGUAGE IS VERY LUCID AND THE ILLUSTRATIONS PARTICULARLY THE CARTOONS ARE EXTREMELY EDUCATIVE WITH AN ADDED TOUCH OF HUMOR WHICH PENETRATES THE MINDS OF THE STUDENT AND FACULTY. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND IT AS A HIGH QUALITY TEXT BOOK PARTICULARLY FOR BEGINERS IN ENGINEERING THERMODYNAMICS. Thermodynamics with a bad, good, or no teacher.

This is an excelent book. Yanus Cengel & Michael Boles did a very good job. I have read the other reviews about it being too wordy. That is the case sometimes but not really enough to make things difficult. Although I appreciate the analogies and definitions for some topics. I have no idea if this book is good for review since I read it cover to cover. The suplimental paperback book with tables came in very handy. The one big problem though, is that it physically fell apart. The binding is done very poorly and I had to take back one book after I read chapter Four. The one I have now has been glued back together several times and I taped it with wide clear packing tape along the sides to keep it together. The text book is a keeper. Maybe McGraw Hill knows that and they want to sell duplicate copies to those who read it.
