Perfect

I am quite athletic and injured some muscles/tendons. I was in physical therapy and wanted to know more about why specific exercises were helping more than I had expected. This is a perfect book for the aging athlete who will start getting more and more minor problems from wear and tear, that seem to take longer and longer to heal. This book describes quite clearly and completely activies that help both in prevention and recovery. The knowledge it contains will help anyone heal as quickly as possible and avoid reinjury.

A cornucopia of exercises.

I like two things about this book. The first is that it is very thorough and complete. Exercises, both stretching and strengthening, are included for basically every major muscle group or extremity motion. Furthermore, the book is divided up well enough that you can find what you're looking for fast. Secondly, I like the fact that this book is evidence-based, meaning that it backs up what it suggests with references from the scientific literature. In fact, it's so good that it can be a great place to start a literature search from. Know too that this book is mainly written for people who have some medical background of sorts, so if you're just an average reader looking for some workout exercises, this probably isn't your book. Rather, I feel like the book is better suited for athletic trainers, personal trainiers, occupational therapists, chiropractors, physical therapists, exercise physiologists, massage therapists, and so on. Practitioners looking for more info on the shoulder might also want to check out Treat Your Own Rotator Cuff -for more detailed ex's on rotator cuff tear prevention and rehabilitation.

A wonderful book adn a MUST HAVE for any one in PT pratice

I use this book in my physical therapy pratice all the time. It's a great quick refrence book. Any student PT or PTA should get this book if its required or not. It had wonderful pictures and great directions. It's very helpful in understanding therapudic exercise.

This is a good foundation book

This is a good book for beginning students of therapeutic exercise and mobilization techniques. It gives the basic foundation of the treatments and the sound reasoning behind it. It is a good book to have for P.T. and A.T.C. students just starting out in their career and a good reference book once out in the working field.

Excellent resource

This is an excellent manual, covering many essential topics in a well-organized style. Techniques are clearly explained and often are accompanied by a diagram. The large, sturdy spiral makes the book easy to use. Although the pages are a little thin and may leak through with an ordinary highlighter, they are certainly thick enough to easily be underlined with a colored pen or pencil. This book has become my essential, often-consulted reference for therapeutic exercise techniques.
