Sabato does it again!

I'm not going to profess to write a better review than the publisher's own. However, this book is, from both an academic and leisurely perspective, an enjoyable read--well researched and throrough. This book covers about every aspect of the election in an easy-to-follow chronological method. Divided States of America: The Slash And Burn Politics of the 2004 Presidential Election was Saboto's work on the 2004 election and this recent work is even better. If you think you know everything about the elections, read Saboto's books. You'll get something out of them. Most significant is Sabato maintains his famous unbiased approach to the review of the election. There is no spin or slant to this research. Be wary of reviews written about this book as those who tend to have not voted for Obama will quickly dismiss it, and those who voted for him will eagerly praise it. These unobjective approaches dismiss and negate the purpose of the book. I didn't vote for Obama, but really enjoyed the book for its approach and study of the 2008 elective process.

Sabato hits homerun with "Year of Obama"

This is by far the most thoughtful political book about Obama's meteoric rise to power. The work includes entries from some of the best minds in electoral politics (rising stars and established scholars). It is a must read for thoughtful people who want to understand how Obama pulled off his unlikely victory and what it means for the future of electoral politics in America.

Academic look back at the election

Each chapter in this book takes up a different aspect of Obama's election and why it occurred. It is full of useful information and analysis for students and politics junkies while remaining readable and interesting enough for all. Recommended for people who wish to revisit the events of 2008 or to learn more about American electoral politics.

good read for anyone with an interest in politics, demographic trends, or Obama

I just finished reading this book and it was very good. I liked the clear and concise writing style, which I think is much-needed for political writing. The book offers some deep insights into Obama's win, many of which I probably would have simply passed over. The various authors are also very thorough and deliberate in their analysis. Overall, I definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to learn more about the historic 2008 election.
