A Page Turner

The Wrong Wife is a page turner. Carolyn McSparren is a superb storyteller with complex heroes and heroines. I highly recommend this book.

A romance that feels good

In Memphis, Ben Jackson expects to be the next district attorney once the current one becomes a judge. As he explains to his beloved mother Elizabeth, Ben seeks a perfect wife. She must not only be self sufficient and beautiful, but also contain no skeletons in her closet that could deter his political track. So why does his libido make his heart pump overtime whenever he sees Annabelle Langley. In spite of dating a series of drop dead gorgeous clones, Annabelle is the first woman to boil his blood since his sweetheart Judy Bromfield was killed by a person his estranged father had, prior to the murder, represented in court and got freed. Annabelle is now his mother's new chef and someone he vaguely knew in high school. She also has a history of being the daughter of a killer-whore making her a bad seed that would simply end his political ambitions. Still, he cannot resist her lure and opens up that old case.THE WRONG WIFE is an entertaining contemporary romance with a touch of a legal thriller adding to the overall fun. The story line centers on the "forbidden" love of Ben and Annabelle, but has a tasty subplot in which the wannabe DA seeks to remake his beloved into the proper image he needs to attain the position. However, Ben's findings in the Langley case shake his very essence as he obtains evidence that makes Annabelle worse spousal material, placing his career goals vs. his heart's objectives in conflict. This inner battle makes Carolyn McSparren's novel an enjoyable tale.Harriet Klausner
