     Brian Howard has written The Writers' Web to bring together a number of essential writing tools available online that writers can make productive use of. Readers are also provided with an insightful view of how the Internet has greatly influenced the art of writing and how writers can make use of it to advance their own literary pursuits.      I was amazed to find out how many resources were available online to assist writers of all skill levels. This book offers a wealth of information on how they can approach editors and literary agents, how they should submit their manuscripts for critiquing and publishing, how they can obtain helpful writing tips, access online databases and reference works, view the works of well known writers of the past and present, and dialog with one another on a number of topics. Website links are provided throughout the book to make all of this and more possible!      The CD that accompanies the book is packed with a number of helpful shareware and freeware software programs writers will find useful, including editors, spelling and grammar checkers, story development, and file management tools. Some of them are truly amazing, offering more flexibility than the standard word processing programs. A good selection of fonts and other goodies are provided as well to enhance one's writing career.      It is clear that the Internet is shaping the way people communicate. Writers, especially those who publish materials of one kind or another online, should grasp the opportunity to avail themselves with what it can offer them.
