a book KIDS will like

I have read the book and enjoyed it a lot. But, after reading some of the reviews i was disappointed. i noticed a lot of adults did not enjoy it. i personally think it is a book for kids. not adults. the younger ones will be a lot more intrigued by the pictures and storyline. I absolutely loved it!!

A fast-paced thriller

Fans of Balliett's prior CHASING VERMEER will be delighted to see the sleuths Petra and Calder return in this sequel, THE WRIGHT 3, which covers another mystery involving a Frank Lloyd Wright architectural masterpiece. A class attempt to save a landmark from demolition results in supernatural influences as ghosts seem to be protecting hidden treasure. Add a coded message and you have a fast-paced thriller filled with twists and turns of plot.

this book is called the wright 3, written by brett helquist. it was copywritten 2006 and published by the scholastic press. this book tells alot of of facts and mysteries, which make like a kids da vinci code. it makes people think carefully in more detail, and want to skip ahead. it is relly tempting to keep on reading ahead, when you need to stop- and it makes you want it to never end! when something happens to the characters, you can feel what they feel like from the big detail that they put in the story. it is shocking how good it is, and how much it can hold in 314 pgs. there were three major characters. the first one was petra. she is a girl who loves to wright, read, and solve mysteries. her best friend is a boy who loves pentiminoes. he also loves to construct things out of them and use them in strange coincedinces. his name is calder. in the book, he uses his pentimonoes to rebuild parts of the robie house. his old best friend moves away from hyde park and comes back again. he and his mom have never had a permanent home. he always somehow gets more mysteries for the group to solve by doing his everyday activities. his name is tommy. a major character that is in the book was hidden in the shadowy corners of the pages. he was an actual real person that lived in our world. his name is frank loyd wright. he built the robie house. in the book he lost a talisman, which was a jade fish, later found by tommy. the main plot was that the robie house was going to be cut apart and peices of it would be stored in museums. the three kids, petra, calder and tommy, and a bunch of other people try to save it. meanwhile, tommy found a jade fish that he thought was just a peice of junk, although he still kept it. later on, he found out that it was wright's talisman! he then told calder and petra, who wanted to sell it and use the money to save the robie house. tommy wanted touse it to buy a permanent home. I will not tell any more or it will ruin the whole story. I liked the facts that the book told. they gave me enough information to know the real histories of the robie house. I also liked the varieties of things that happened and how it all wrapped up in the end. I did not like how short the book was, nor how hard it was to discover the facts from the made up things. another thing that I did not like was how much the name frank loyd wright was mentioned, because they could have used the last name wright. I would recommend this book to anyone who is learning about current history and whoever likes to write or read mysteries.

Fans of Balliett's previous book, Chasing Vermeer, will love this latest installment featuring Petra, Calder, Tommy, and the rest of the gang as they try to save Frank Lloyd Wright's Robie House. A must-have for kids in grades 3-6.

Even better than the first

I think I enjoyed this one better than the first book by Blue Balliett. The same characters from "Chasing Vermeer" appear in this latest art mystery, this time surrounding the Robie House in Chicago built by the famous Frank Lloyd Wright. The house is in very poor disrepair and scheduled to be dismantled into sections and divided among three museums. Ms. Hussey, the 6th grade teacher, convinces her students that they must try to save the structure by generating some publicity and, presumably, millions of dollars needed to restore it to its original glory. Sleuths Calder, Petra, and Tommy form an alliance and noting all coincidences, use their individual skills of code breaking, writing, and collecting things, to figure out how they may be connected and in turn save the Robie House. The author has such a knack at filling the story in with details and creating great characters and a sense of place that the reader cannot help but become consumed by the story. Full of references the reader will want to investigate and codes they will need to break, this fast-paced and clever book will be a hit on many levels.
