Try it on CD

I listened to his in my car on CD. This might be a better way to absorb this book. It jumps from character to character a lot, and the CD used male and female readers, and the voice of of Aunt Stormy with an accent. I can see it getting possibly confusing trying to determine who is talking. But I did like the book,it kept my interest.

Great character development

The story is told from four points of view, all of which hold the reader's attention and create sympathy for each complex and flawed character. While there aren't really any surprises in the plot, the process of watching the characters come to various realizations is absorbing.

The Worst Thing I've Done

Fantastic read! I knew she wrote historical fiction so well, but I never knew she could do contemporary fiction. It had me hooked right from the start and I couldn't put it down.

A Wonderful Experience

A different type of reading experience from the fabulous author Ursula Hegi. The characters will stay with you for quite some time. Her vivid description of the East End of Long Island and New England are the setting for stories told from different perspectives. I am still thinking about Annie and Opal weeks after I finished this novel.

sensitive, complex, fascinating

Once again Hegi has written a fascinating, sensitive and complex book. I found myself holding my breath as I rushed to read the next pages. There are many beautiful moments of friendship, perceptive descriptions of nature, and it is often funny!
