It is not yet the 22nd century.Decades prior, the Third World War engulfed the entire planet in a blaze of destruction that put all previous conflicts to shame with regard to human lives lost. Yet one thing remained critically similar to this latest deluge of violence and all previous conflicts: the world's privileged and elite were unaffected inasmuch as they profited from the War's mass genocides.In the decades from the new millennium to the current tribulations, four major powers arose to conscript all previous sovereign nations. The North and South American continents were rallied together under the North American Federation. The European Union encompassed all countries on that continent and the westernmost section of what was previously Russia along with Australia, which deigned to stand apart from the Asian Alliances. The final piece was the African Coalition, which named all countries on that continent beneath its rule.By the time the Tetrad became pronounced and all-powerful, the world's population had ballooned to over twice what it was at the turn of the millennium despite losing eight nations in the 'Middle Eastern Exile' that outlawed all nuclear weapons henceforth after their proliferation.The War cast billions into early graves in non-nuclear Blinding Bomb raids as well as the far more deadly 'Biologics' on all major cities. Then followed hundreds of land and sea campaigns until finally an unsteady 'peace' was achieved.The Tetrad banded together uneasily into what the Earth's citizenry now term the 'World Order'. The planet-wide governing body is divided up into four different 'Ruling Councils', one from each of the major powers of the defunct Tetrad. Each of the four also has what is deemed as an 'Oversight Committee' to keep each Ruling Council from abusing power. Unknown to most, the Oversight Committees are little more than shells possessing no real authority.Each Ruling Council and Oversight Committee has one hundred members, leaving eight hundred people in command of a planet inhabited by now less than five billion frightened souls.The elite's dominion is consolidated by way of the Global Protectorate, the body that swallowed up all of Earth's militaries following the War. The Protectorate is tasked with keeping the Council and Committee safe from any harm that may befall them. Secondary concerns include carrying out the Order's laws and decrees while executing the merciless punishment following any crime.The Company known as Axial Intelligence is now the only institution of its kind with the Sharlant, IDI, CIA, MI-6, MSS and their ilk having been worn down or absorbed entirely. Axial Intelligence is charged with keeping the world safe and orderly so that no one need fear an untimely death. The Company oversees all other law enforcement arms such as local police still active across the Order. AI station houses reign in every former sovereign nation though the headquarters are still located in what used to be the state of Virginia. The Ruling Council of the NAF rules from that same territory, specifically from the Alpha District, which was previously Washington D.C. before the Middle Eastern Exile.With several former nations and swaths of the Earth having been removed from thought, the World Order moves closer to achieving complete dominance over every human being on the planet. No outside entities currently stand capable of posing any credible threat. The only hope for true freedom and release from the veiled tyranny now stands solely able to strike from within...
