Simply the best

I first started roleplaying when I was 8 years old. My first game was basic Dungeons and Dragons. I used to love it, then I got into Advanced D & D and eventually the 2nd edition stuff too, but when I was 13, I discovered Synnibarr at its debut during a science-fiction convention in Everett, Washington called Dreamcon, and I was hooked. I loved the game immediately, it was superior to D & D in so many ways. I have been playing Synnibarr ever since and have not played D & D since I was 15. Synnibarr is in my opinion the best game I have ever played, and I have played most of them out there, from D & D to Rifts, as well as Magic the gathering. Out of all the games out there Synnibarr is not only the funnest to play, but allows your imagination and creativity to run wild. The posibilities are limitless, if you can think of it you can most likely do it or find a way to do it in the World of Synnibarr. I also have the pleasure of knowing the author, Raven, personally and play the game with him on a weekly basis, he is one of the greatest storytellers and game masters I have ever known. The descriptions and detail he gives as well as the adventures he creates are awe inspiring. Buy the book, borrow the book(yes, there is actually a library or two that have this book), If you like what you read, you would love to experience the game with him as fate(GM). You don't have to be a power gamer to enjoy this game, I would recommend Synnibarr to anyone who enjoys sci-fi or fantasy gaming and especially to those who love to roleplay. Don't take my word for it, read the book, try the game and I bet you will be hooked, just like I was almost 13 years ago.

Get a Calculator

AD & D is a really nice game, but I never could really understand it. No one ever had all the books when we would play, and things just didn't seem right. I'm smack an enemy with a sword, and I would do "4 damage." Well, what does that mean? What if I hit him in the head for `4 damage?' Is that the same as hitting him on his arm? I just couldn't visualize the fight scene as if it was a great epic movie. Three years ago, someone introduced me to Synnibarr. It seemed really kinda' silly at the time. I couldn't do a single thing without a calculator. It didn't take long though for me to fall in love with the game. The combat is so well thought out that, I can easily see the death blow that I deliver to my foe. This game is a blend of fantasy and technology rolled up with superhuman characters. It is so Dragonball Z. If you're the type of person who loves to get really really accurate and specific, this is the game for you. Get a good set of dice, and have fun. Oh, and make sure you have a calculator -- you'll need it.

Synnibarr - An awesome game!

I've been playing Synnibarr for 5 years. It is deffinately the best role-playing game I have ever encountered. There are a lot of rules but they're really just there if you want them, they deffinately make the game much more realistic. Another pro is that you only need one book to play. Unlike AD & D or Battle Tech where you have to buy different books for every aspect of the game. With Synnibarr there is only one other book (The Ultimate Adventurer's Guide) and it is optional. I would recommend this game for anyone who is serious about role-playing games.

Synnibarr--excellent game for serious gamers

Synnibarr is an excellent game. Yes it is a little long winded and some on the rules are a bit extreme (do I really need to know exactly how much force my lungs can create). But the point is, the rules are there if you want them. I don't approve the instant death abilities, but thats just me. All in all an excellent system that has more thqan enough for everyone scifi gamers and fantasy gamers alike.

This game makes all the others out there WEAK!

I have played Synnibarr now for about seven years. Compared to the predecessor, DND, this game has it all! I have never in my life been able to create or do the things I have done in this game as compared to the others. The other systems out there have limits and aren't really well, stimulating! Synnibarr has everything and then some for you to have the most adventurous times! For those who haven't heard, you should also check out "The Ultimate Adventurer's Guide." It's an elaboration of the different character classes, their religions and lifestyles. I know there are those of you out there who love "role" playing and this book defines it all! "The World of Synnibarr" is by far the best in multi-genre gaming! It was the first ever multi-genre system created. Far ahead of the other systems in their time! I highly recommend to all RPG'rs to let Synnibarr challenge your imagination!
