It is a very interesting book. It has 2 time zones 1 in 1895 with a guy named corrick and another named harrington. those are the main characters for the 1895 time zone. in the 1910 time zone a 14 year old boy named james, a talking dog named tempus, a talking bear named baranor, and james father sir phillip. James is one of the 3 people who can travel into eldeterra. corrick is also one of them. there is a fully evil person who can travel through but he died early in the book. this is my review hoped you liked it!

A wonderful fantasy

In 1910 England, despondent fourteen years old James Kinghorn escapes from Drinkett College that he attends as a student to walk the sand dunes when he notices the commemorative looking "Sea Arch". He walks through it and finds he has entered a portal that leaves him in a world where magic is real, Eldaterra. He quickly flees a deadly dragon spider and the undead with the help of the twin dwarves Brothers Bandamire, and a talking dog and chatty bear as dragons disguised as humans and Kaiser Wilhelm's forces set in motion plans to defeat humans in both planes. He soon finds ties to his grandfather and serial murders fifteen years earlier. In 1895 British Chief Inspector Corrick and Foreign Office civil servant Harrington investigate a series of grisly murders. The victims are pregnant women pregnant, but their fetuses are reptilian. They struggle with the serial murder case that makes no sense for the answer lies in Eldaterra and a patient enemy establishing an axis in two worlds. The first book of The World of Eldaterra saga is an interesting historical fantasy that stars a young hero struggling to understand what is going on in spite of the overly verbose explanations provided by the Brothers Bandamire. The story line is action-packed as James and his new allies fight the evil alliance in between loquacious discussions on what is going on. Still the ties to history bring a semblance of reality to WWI fought on another front in an alternate realm. Harriet Klausner

A fantasy world that is enveloped in mystery

The time is 1895. Chief Professor Corrik is working on a case that involves the murders of pregnant women. Can he handle the truth, and is he brave enough to stop the culprit? The time is 1910. Eldaterra is in trouble. Portals between the Old World and the New World only open on rare occasions, and even then, few people can see them. While James is walking on the beach, he sees a strange arch; one that he is sure wasn't there before. When he steps through, he is taken to another world- the Old World, Eldaterra. As James soon finds out, he is the only one capable of saving Eldaterra- if he chooses to help, he could save a world, which would involve extreme danger. If he chooses to return home, the enemy will almost certainly kill him just because they know that he can see the portal. With the help of a brave dog that can talk, a large bear that can also talk, and two dwarf brothers whose goal in life is to either die in their attempt to help James and become legends, or live in the attempt to help James and become heroes. Can James stop the evil that began 15 years ago and prevent the destruction of Eldaterra, before time runs out? The World of Eldaterra, The Dragon Conspiracy is amazing. While the reader is trying to figure out one mystery that occurred in 1895, another adventure is unfolding in 1910. Are there links between the two? Page after page, The Dragon Conspiracy reveals new facts and new problems, new lies and new dangers. P. R. Moredun has created a fantasy world that is enveloped in mystery. Fantasy, Mystery and Historical Fiction

Although the author may be accused by some of jumping on the Lord of the Rings bandwagon the story is more easily read than Tolkien, no doubt aimed at the young as well as the old.For accessibility it's more JK Rowling. As in Harry Potter the story is set in Engalnd. In fact the story hops backwards and forwards from Victorian England (1895) to the time when the Great War was only 4 years away (1910). In 1895 the police are investigating the murders of pregnant women, in 1910 our hero James (a mere boy) disappears. James has actually entered a parrallel world (Eldaterra)through a portal. This world is inhabited by wizards, dangerous olorcs, a talking bear and other assorted magical creatures. It later emerges that dragons have already entered our world through the portal. The two worlds are both on the brink of war and at the same time are on a collision course with each other ! A terrific story.
