Poland, during world war ll historical fiction

This story is inspired by the true, harrowing stories of those who had no choice but to hide in the sewers as a last resort, to stay alive and keep themselves from the Nazi's. It is a powerful story of friendship, love and loss, through unbelievable circumstances. It is a powerful Testament to how much a man will do to stay alive and keep his family safe. The extraordinary strength and will humans have to ...to just be able to live, and to keep those they love as safe as possible. So the story tells of two familys that take to the sewers, as the Jewish Ghetto is emptied by raids of the German police, morning, noon, and night, living in fear ...when will they come... and take you away to the death camps. With nowhere to hide, as they are trapped in the square footage of the Jewish ghetto, two families are lead to the sewers, by a polish friend, who vows to help them to the very end, he will lead them down and bring them as much food and supplies as he can sneak in, as food for an ordinary family is hard to come by, let alone a family of 6 xtra people to feed. As soon as the journey begins, a tragedy unfolds where the young girl of 19, Sadie, losses her beloved father, in the fast turbulent waters that they are crossing over, their satchel drops and as the father dives in to save the only thing in the world they own..he catches the satchel, throws it to Sadie and her Mom, but he is brought under by the current, and as hard as he tries to fight the waters, he losses his strength and breath, and goes under before their eyes, to be swept away forever. Thus starts the heartbreaking tale that the families go through. From Pawel, the polish guide that took them down, and brings them food and supplies, he is caught by the SS, and never to be seen or heard from again! To Stuggles to find any kind of food, sickness to overcome, clothes that never dry out, cold, darkness, the unbearable stench..and days and nights of boredom are just SOME of the horrible things that they go through. But in all this, a spark of Hope comes to them, by way of a young girl, Ella, that happens to see Sadie looking up through the grate in the street. Ella cannot believe what she sees, thinking she is seeing things, when Sadie steps out of the shadows, and says "Hello" and introduces herself. Thus their friendship and Savior in Ella begins, from trying to sneak them whatever xtra food she can find, to trying to figure a way for them to get out ! There is SO much more to this story that couldn't possibly be written in a review..but it is a beautifully written, moving story, with twists and turns, and danger that the two families endure. Full of Love and Bravery from all the Characters. Truely a story that will break your heart at times, and Warm it at others! You will Devour this book from beginning to end ! A Fabulous Story From a Truly Fabulous Author !
