I find this book takes a "presentist" look at Jefferson by applying current day standards to an 18th century man as it pertains to slavery. t does contain some decent "Jefferson" history but John Chester Miller is no Dumas Malone. He rarely uses citations for his work unless they are direct quotes of notable people
