There's nothing they hate so much as children, and they work all kinds of terrifying spells to get rid of them. Her grandson listens closely to Grandmamma's stories -- but nothing can prepare him for the day he comes face to face with The Grand High Witch herself!

Bad condition

The picture of the book didn’t match what u received in the mail totally different cover. Book also came all bent up, with big clumps of dust hanging at the bottom. Cover was a bit dirty seemed like dirt or some sort of stain all over. The inside of the plastic that the book was mailed in was dirty too. Mind you I selected for the book to be like new(condition).

A blast for kids. Will keep their interest. So fun!

A new favorite

My daugher will be 8 in a couple of months, and she got this book for Christmas. Once she finished reading it, she declared, "This is THE BEST book I have ever read!" She laughed out loud a lot while reading The Witches and has instructed everyone in the family on how to detect a witch. One drawback to this book is that she now firmly believes she should stop bathing. We love Roald Dahl's books and I'm sure will add more to our collection as time goes on.

Loads of Fun!

The Witches by Roald Dahl was a true treat for me. One day while bored I came across this book and voila, I read it. It has a truly funny story that any child or adult alike would love. The book is about "a boy,"(the boy is not named) and his grandmother who encounter The Witches. The boy accidentaly gets into a top secret meeting of the witches and learns their new plan. He must stop them immediatly. With the help from his grandmother and food loving bruno(who was turned into a mouse by the witches with the secret formula) fight all the witches and bring the highest witch down. They finally succeed and the witches get a taste of their own medicine. This book is a really funny book that all people will enjoy!

Awesome Book!

The setting for this magnificent story is in England. It is about a young boy whose grandmother tells him about the characteristics of witches. Later, he and his grandmother take a vacation, so they stay in a hotel. While he is exploring the giant hotel, he finds himself trapped in a whole room with witches! What will he do? This book is a real page turner, and perhaps one of Roald Dahl's best! I loved this book, and if you like Roald Dahl's books, you probably will too!

This book rocks!

I first read this book in elementary school, in 2nd grade. Since then, I've always made sure to read it at least once a year. It's almost become a tradition! I LOVE Roald Dahl's books, and I incorporate him in my life. For my speech team, I performed a poem from "Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator" and won 2nd place! I think every child should read this book at least once in their lifetime.
