Another year, another excellent almanac

I've been buying the Witches Almanac for almost 15 years now, and look forward to it coming out every year. I'm so pleased that the tradition is being carried on so wonderfully. If you are looking for an interesting, informative read, with the best year ahead horoscope, you must get this. The short items are fascinating and I love being able to plan things according to the lunar calendar. I highly recommend this, even if you are not a pagan or witch yourself.

Gets Better every Year!!!

The staff that publishes The Witches Almanac should be proud of themselves! Elizabeth's Creation is living up to her high standards and continues to be this pagan's preferred Almanac!

Great resource

This is a very nice edition, larger than my copy for 2006-2007. I find I use this in conjunction with my Farmer's Almanac.

wonderful almanac

I first discovered the Witches' Almanac during their brief run in the '70s; a few years ago I found they were again publishing, and have been getting them yearly ever since. They are indeed a moon-phase-based almanac that follows the astrological year (beginning each year in spring on the vernal equinox), and include the occasional planting tip as well as the birthdays of various famous folk (some generally so, others more well-known to the Pagan community), moon phases, all the holidays important to Pagans, and an assortment of aphorism ranging from "feed the birds'" and "recall a fond memory" to "draw down the moon" and "scry for a vision"--and that's just on the calendar pages themselves. Also packed into these little books is a wealth of interesting articles, classic tales retold, book reviews (Harry Potter books for 2006-2007, Anne Rice for 2007-2008), poems, recipes, weather predictions for the year, extensive astrological horoscopes for each sign for the year, and the occasional spell. Sadly, the final surviving founder of the almanac, New England witch Elizabeth Pepper, passed away in July of '05; she had started the almanac with John Wilcox, who is also gone now. While the '06-'07 issue retained the look of the other volumes in it's later publishing history, the '07-'08 volume has a revamped look and a new larger size (hurrah, more stuff!) as it has moved forward under the editorship of one Theitic. But it has retained all of it's previous features and regular contributors (Dikki-Jo Mullen for horoscopes, Tom C. Lang on the weather), as well as the many wonderful black- & -white woodcuts that have been the hallmark of the Witches' Almanac from it's inception.

New look...

I love this almanac! The information within it's pages is relevent and an enjoyable read for any practicing witch. The new look is great. I've only had it a couple of weeks and have just about finished it (along with several other books). I know I will re-read it many times over the upcoming year. You can't get better information, and the form and function are outstanding as always.
