Easy reading of some disturbing truthful information

Patrick Dixon's book is disarmingly easy to read. Having scanned other books on the subject of AIDS it has either felt like I have been blugeoned by overtly scientific data or it has been keenly politicised by specific interest groups. As a member of the ordinary populace I found this book to be a relief. It certainly tells you the facts & figures but it places them into the framework of humanity, relationships and how AIDS affects real people & real communities. It is shocking only in it's truthfulness (this book has no hidden agenda) and is a kick up the pants for anyone who regards AIDS as a "plague from God", whilst having a distinctly ethical/moral approach to the care of those living with HIV. I feel more enlightened, less prejudiced and more realistic in my view of HIV & AIDS.
