World war ll..pre-war stuggles of 3 friends.

A very Beautiful and tender read, as 3 young women, who are very good friends, watch and wait to see what happens, as the threat of war with Germany is looming closer and closer each day.The three girls have been friends since their early childhood, as they all dormed together in a prestigious girls boarding school. There is Marie, who is of German decent, but has been in Britian since the age of 12, under her aunt and uncles care, who she loves more than her own parents..who sent her away..and barely bother with ...or even tell her, they love or miss her. Though this might bother some girls, Marie has learned to accept who her parents really are, and wouldn't want it any other way, than to be with the aunt and uncle that love her as their own, and she loves them..more than her absent parents. Next is Hazel, She is a wonderful girl, who had no family left, and winds up marring a young man who she met at a dance. They both being smitten with each other, have a whirlwind romance, and Hazel marries faster than she would have ever expected to, especially when she realizes she is pregnant. Nathaniel is very respectful and steps right up, to do the proper thing and marry Hazel. It's not even 3 mos after the wedding, things are going along fine enough, Hazel experiences a miscarriage. During the course of their marriage this is one ...of the many ...that Hazel and Nathaniel experience. Next is Nora, she is a very strong willed, smart, very independent woman, who comes from a very affluent family. Regardless of who her family are, she is determined to find her place in the Home Offices Air Raid Defense department. Though strictly a man oriented world, woman are only seen as secretaries, tea fetchers, message takers, and file clerks, without an idea in their heads. Nora is a hard worker who has many great ideas to run pass her boss, especially as to help keep the citizens of Britain safe, by using the underground tubes as a bomb shelter during strategic times of the day and night. As she explained the idea she has, he dismisses it, and tells her to file it away. When during the course of this very good story..it is obvious that Britain is going to war, Marie is threatened with losing her freedom and being interned in the many camps that are springing up for German Aliens living in Britian. Soooo much goes on in the story of course,as to how to help Marie, and find a way to get her out of the country and to Canada, before a certain Home Sercurity agent, who has been badgering her and following her...makes his move to arrest her! The Girls band together, fighting at all costs to help Marie. It is a moving story about a fierce powerful friendship that the girls will hold forever dear, and never forget. A Gripping and moving story, that's not to be missed ! PS, there's also a nice surprise ending !! Julia Kelly is a phonemol, moving author of Historical fiction, fans won't want to miss!
