Light and Breezy, a Bit Salty

This is a very entertaining and well written novel about private investigator Alez Peres. Alex is funny, and she has a dog named Fargo. Set in Provincetown during tourist season, Alex gets involved in a case she soon wishes would just go away. Her clients seem to be less than forthcoming with truthful information, she develops sympathy for the presumed bad guys, catches another case that also involves more twists and turns than she'd like, not to mention travel to the southern region of the U.S. Then dead bodies start turning up in most unusual places. Take off your shoes, get a refreshing beverage, and keep reading. There are some very interesting characters here, not least of which is the inimitable Grace Sanhope. There is also something beguiling as well as irritating about Mary Sloan, a woman most people would like to overlook, but who seems to be at the center of the case involving the very wealthy Sanhope clan. Tangled webs abound. Who can blame an investigator for developing a thirst? Sometimes, a person just needs a drink and a little time for reflection, not to mention time for girlfriends and for Fargo, a noble beast who is a welcome addition to literature and an homage to literary sidekicks through the ages. I recommend you read this book. You'll laugh right out loud at some scenes, like the dinner party gone very wrong. It's not necessary to have read the previous novels in tis series, but if they are all this entertaining, they are next on my reading list.
