The Pew Group

(Book #1 in the Webber & Thomas Series)

This is a true British comedy/farce featuring the outrageous Lizzie Thomas and her companion in crime, John Webber. This is the first of four comedic mysteries by world-renown Staffordshire antiques dealer and critic Anthony Oliver. Starting from the first murder ('She didn't mean to do it, but somehow Doreen Corder's foot went out just as her detested husband reached the top of the stairs'), this book will keep you entertained and educated in the world of Staffordshire figures. You'll probably not eat ham at a funeral anytime soon, either. This description may be from another edition of this product.

One of the Out of Print Tragedies

Anthony Oliver, whoever he is, wrote several hysterical mysteries that came out in paperback in the 1980s. So sad that they are hard to find. I have them in paperback and when I re-bought and re-read them, I found them just as funny as when they were new. Just crazy little characters in an English village. The murder is kind of an excuse to bring them into the book.
