WOW is a powerful text about language and its uses.

If a person want to learn about language and its uses, The Way of Words is an excellent text. Munson talks about "words and their ways" leading the reader to see that words have their meaning from the use that a particular community provide for them. After providing a workable classification of the uses of language, he then illustrate the nature and utility of what he calls informal logic or rational persuasion. Design for Thinking: A First Book in Semantics by Albert Upton is similiar in purpose and usefulness. Both arthurs are presenting a way of thinking and thus a way of life.
