WarRoom Operations

We used the concepts of this book to create a war room, the use of the tools, caves and methodologies around it have helped us on using it effectively not only to review strategic intelligence but also to monitor the evolution of complex projects and business information. The digital war room is definitely a great tool that can help analyze advanced BI, KM, TQM indicators. A great resource to anyone trying to build this combination of decision support room, laboratory and multimedia meeting room.

Excellent overview of competitive intelligence processes.

Excellent description of competitive intelligence: its rationale, nature, tools and techniques. Includes a discussion of how warrooms enhance the competitive intelligence process. There are several useful case studies. The discussion of the Quarterback technique was especially good, along with instructions on how to build a competitive intelligence organization. The detailed bibliography is useful for gathering additional information on the topic.

Fantastic! The new guidebook on beating the competition.

Finally someone has been able to gather the best techniques from the U.S. Intelligence Community and transfer them to business executives. Its been a long time since corporate America has been able to compete effectively against foreign business intellligence units and this book is the new guidebook on how to empower corporate America. Businesses that are competiting in domestic and international markets need to memorize this book and follow every instruction to the letter. It is well written and chock full of techniques on how to develop a competitive intelligence organization, use it legally and ethically, and protect its contents from prying eyes. As a member of the Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals, I've been waiting for a fellow member to write something practical and useful. Great job Mr. Shaker and Mr. Gembicki!

If you have competitors, this is a 'must read' book!!!

Until I read this book, I didn't realize that we in the United States trail most of foreign business world in conducting organized competative intelligence gathering. The more that I read and learned about the competative intelligence process, the more I realized that we must be pretty easy targets for those who do have CI teams established. Not only did the authors do a great job in describing War Rooms and the competative intelligence gathering process, they also went into much detail in describing the ways that a company can protect itself from being a victim of a competitors CI program. That portion of the book alone is enough reason for the 90% of the American companies not yet engaged in CI gathering to read it in order to become a little tougher target for the other guys CI team. After reading the chapter on Protection from Cyber Espionage, I am a little more careful in my corporate interaction with the Internet and the World Wide Web. Any one of the tips in this book could help save your company! I highly recommend it.

This book was riveting, an on the edge technology thriller.

Reading this book was just like living with the author as he proceeded through the world of competitive intelligence. Competitive intelligence is a rock the world concept not yet advanced in many business cultures but soon to catch on in new democracies around the world. As the Chinese, Russians, and successful Japanese move into technological frontiers not yet fully explored they conquer their competitors before they know what hit them. My compliments to the authors for giving us a much needed business method for success in the 21st Century.
