Shes living in her own world

In her book Mac Donald completely ignores major police scandals in recent US history. Just the NYPD filled books with the last few decades; the Mollen commission, manipulation of numbers, millions paid annually for excessive use of force settlements the case of Adrian Schoolcraft and many more. She is acting as if police misconduct was a rare occasion, yet if one has a look at the statistics of the DOJ and the FBI we see that the police in the United States has a big problem. Furthermore, she is completely ignoring social implications for the origin of crime like the effects of neo liberalism, socioeconomic status and the terribly bad mental health care system in the US. Additionally, she is completely ignoring the effects of the private prison industry. After all, she is working for the Manhattan Institute, a neo liberal think tank, proper dealing with facts is not their mission. If you are interested in a superficial, insubstantial and ideology based book that can be summarized with 'blacks are criminals because their fathers leave them. Cops are nearly flawless' you should buy this book, if not look for something that was written by a criminologist, an academic work.

Blue is Beautiful, too

How does one wear the blue knowing they are sitting ducks yet the continue to do their job especially in cities? The book describes how society's views and feelings about patrol officers have definitely changed since the Obama administration. Society's views have definitely changed and the author explains the why/how of that thread. Informative and eye opening. A good book for everyone to read while reflecting on their own views of COPS.
