Well i have to say that this series is one of the best I have read. I remember buying the first book in the series back around 1991 and couldnt wait to read the next and next, then to my horror i had to wait a few months for this book to come out and finished it that same day. It has been 8 1/2 years since this book came out and i just read the series again (i cant stop myself), I just wanted people to know that there are people like me out there waiting over 8 years for his next book in the series. The reason I also decided to post this was to make sure he was still alive, and to let him know that to keep his fan base he really needs to finish the series or at least put the next book out. I really really hope you read this david in the hopes that you will stop writing these other books and let us find out what happens to McCarthy and Lizard. Besides that point the best all round book i have read for sci-fi
Where's the 5th

Little did I know, after picking up the first book in an airport book store, that I would be waiting to finish the "trilogy" 15 years later. The whole series sweeps you along like a raging stream; through rapids, around eddies, over falls and across placid waters. The last five years have been a frustrating wait, but I manage. Have mercy Mr. Gerrold, publish the fifth book.
Waiting in Delicious Agony for Book 5!

This whole series is packed with fierce emotional turmoil and disturbing philosophical observations, a true achievement in a setting of such fascinating violence. I will now read it again for the fifth (sixth?) time in the superstitious hope that this will cause book 5 to appear!
we know how it ends... but how do we get there?

If you havent read DG's "Voyage of the StarWolf" or the two booker "Covenant of Justice" and "Under the Eye of God" then you dont. But if you have, then you know through certian references to the past. After finishing #4 I thought to myself, "Self... this is the most complete, consistent, involving, etc... series you have ever read", for I was completely exausted when I finally finished. I then proceeded to read the series again and found answers to alot of questions that went unanswered during the first go-through, like, What finally happened to Ted? What was the purpose of all the dirty limericks in ARFR? Why did we need to know about the Baby Cooper '$', and Who cares for Soloman(Foreman)Short quotes? My advice to all who get involved in this black-holeish type series is read it again and again. I've read the series atleast 10 times and not only do answers keep presenting themselves but it keeps me from taking a road trip to L.A. to see if i can help him jog his AMAZING imigination.I was hopelessly hooked from Book #1 and and the series has had me thinking about my own "Modes" ever since. Jim has definately matured through the years and that maturity shows on multiple occasions. I do believe I learned something from the mode training. My fustration level at the end of this book almost rivaled the fustration I had at the end of book #1; just a dead-pan, "be sure to tune in next week folks!!!" except weeks have stereched into five years. Take this to heart David... dont worry about anything else but finishing that book... quit teaching and lecturing. When you finally out,"A Method For Maddness" you will make more money than McDonalds... We fans love to show our appreciation of expertly crafted, originally twisted, and jaw-dropping plots by buying the new release and telling all our friends to go buy it too.
This unfinished series is one of the finest series I've read

This book represents the 4th (and possibly the last, since I can't seem to find any information about when or if Mr. Gerrold plans on releasing future volumes in this series) installment in his acclaimed "War vs. the Chtorr" series. As I write this, it has been some years since I read this novel, but I can say that it is definitely one of the premiere science fiction series that I have yet encountered. Dealing with a full-scale ecological invasion of Earth, Mr. Gerrold deals in a very convincing way with the concept of an entire ecosystem invading our own. This ranges all the way from the microbial level, to huge purple worms with razor teeth that seem to have quite a taste for humanity. Over the course of the series, as you watch Earth's military and scientific branches struggle to understand and defend the entire planet (and constantly losing ground, I might add), you are swept into the desparate plight of the Earth's dwindling population. This is one book that deftly mixes scientific inquiry with action and suspense. At the first of this book, as a group of soldiers invade a subterranean worm colony, I was reminded of similar scenes in the movie Aliens. This book definitely has something for everyone who appreciates good science fiction. A compelling story line, great action, an overriding mystery regarding what/who is actually behind the invasion of Earth, and memorable characters. It's basically Cyberpunk meets Alien and War of the Worlds all wrapped up in one. Read it. You'll enjoy it.
