A Good Enticement

I read this book many years ago and somehow lost it. I have been searching for a copy ever since and now I've found one! This book scared the [...] out of me the first time I read it- I graduated from Brown County High School and that's about 20-30 minutes east of Bloomington. I used to attend church in Bloomington and it was extremely creeped out to drive down or pass by the streets referred to in this book! Great description of Bloomington and surrounding areas and very easy to visualize (as if reading a movie)- you'll be sucked in with a deaf "ear" to the world!

Go on into the Basement

You won't be dissapointed. It's a wonderful and classic tale of a young couple in a newly purchased, and of course haunted house. Martindale incorporates really original and solid characters and manages to put new twists on old themes. Even my dissapointment in the ending is a testament to the author's skill--he made me care enough to be angry.

A chilling thriller

I happen to be good friends with this author's brother and sister-in-law which is why I read the book. I wasn't sure what to expect but I found Chris' writing style easy to follow and very chilling. His descriptions of things gave me very vivid visual images, and in a few instances some very real cold chills. I highly recommend this book if you are into ghosts and the supernatural. If it ever comes out on the big screen you can bet I will be there!

Another Great Effort!! This writer deserves more attention!!

Great characters, great tone, and great suspense equal another creepy effort by this author. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a new horror author to read. You should order this one now. All of his other books are out of print and I had to search for over a year before I found a copy of "Where the Chill Waits."
