The Velvet Underground was a rock group formed during 1964 in New York City, New York, U.S. by singer/guitarist Lou Reed, multi-instrumentalist John Cale, guitarist Sterling Morrison, and drummer Angus MacLise, who was replaced by Moe Tucker the following year.
