Perhaps Howard Butt did not coin the phrase "servant leadership" but his Velvet Covered Brick from the 70's is the first treatment of the subject to expose me to the value of valuing others. I continue to return to his text to remind myself that the truest way to greatness is to serve others, to make others great. Having observed the Butt family from a distance for the past fifty years, I can truly assert that this family certainly lives the message.
A Must Read for Understanding Authority and Submission
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 21 years ago
Unfortunately, this book is out of print. Fortunately, you cand find it used. This is the best book I've read on authority and submission. When is authority abused? When is it irresponsibly not used? What is submission and why is it important? How do organizations, governments and people in general thrive or die depending on how these two topics are treated? In addition to the concepts, this is a well written book. The author poured over every word and every sentence; it has a poetic feel to it, written by a skillful wordsmith.
