unlike the other reviewer I didn't read the book in comparison to Georgette Heyer. I read the book looking for an entertaining traditional regency-and I found it. The story line is a popular one-the heroine, caring for her "genteel but poor" family, moves herself, two sisters, sickly brother and widowed mother out to a house in the country that her youngest brother has inheirited from an long long relation. The heroine is a wonderful, spunky but sensible lady of 22. Our hero enters the story early on and is everything you want in a regency hero ala' Austen. He likes the heroines courage and seeks to help her out and offer her advice-there starts their romance. The story is also part mystery pertaining to the loss of The Varleigh Medallion, the secondary characters are entertaining. The book is written like most traditional regencies-heavy on the relationship, very low on any "love scenes"-which doesn't harm the story in any way. I recommend this book to those who love vintage regencies:) 4 stars!
