Explores the nature of patriotism and how it may be expressed in wartime and in different countries and cultures. This description may be from another edition of this product.
As I read this book I was impressed by the subdivision of categories and the tackling of difficult and controversial parts of American history and world history. I especially enjoyed the chapter comparing nationalism to patriotism and how we must guard against becoming extremist to any one side of an issue. I also, as an educator, appreciated that it was on a level that children would not only comprehend but also connect with. Each chapter brought the subject back to the reader, forcing them to self-evaluate their views and opinions on a particular issue. All in all, I enjoyed this book and will use it as a resource for years to come.
