An Urban sketchbook with prompts.

This small sketchbook is the perfect size to put in your backpack or purse to take for drawing, unfortunately, almost every page already has a prompt with 3 or 4 step outs for you to draw the item yourself. . . There are 13 blank pages. The rest have pictures or instructions. At least 2 of those pages are needed to complete the prompt drawing. There are at least 4 hats, 3 bicycles, and several drink containers. The paper is thin. I did the first picture, a hot dog with mustard on a bun, with pencil and color pencils. It turned out nicely, and I had room to sketch several other small items on the two page spread with the hot dog prompts. . . The next page prompt was for a mug of beer. . . I decided to do a pencil drawing of a barn on that page. I worked for about 2 hours on the picture. Knowing that graphite smears, I sprayed it with Spectrum workable fixative. The pages immediately curled and buckled!!!! I wasn't favorably impressed. I also tried to use my pigma microns. They are standard equipment for my pen and ink drawings. They bled through in places. So I would only suggest using graphite and color pencils on this paper. If a pigma micron will bleed through, I'm sure other markers would be even worse. I do like the pages of drawing information that is sprinkled through the book. He has you use cubes to make buildings, busses, and columns. It makes it easier to get your proportions correct. He shows how to measure proportions using your pencil at arms length, which I have seen before. What was new was the explanation that this measurement has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE MEASUREMENTS OF YOUR DRAWING! It is just to get a proportion. If the width of the roof is four times of the height of the roof, your roof should be 4 times wider than it is high. A bicycle is 3 boxes wide. A fire truck is 4 boxes long. I learned quite a bit from this book.
