Lucky to own!

I was very lucky to purchase this book from Brian Shul in personat the Cleveland National Air Show back in 2000. I also purchasedhis book on the Navy Blue Angels, both were signed by the Author. This book is fantastic, I couldn't put it down once I started it.Brian Shul is a very talented writer, he makes you feel like you are there in the plane with him. One thing I regret very much is that I didn't buy Sled Driver when I had the chance, my friend purchased it when I purchased The Untouchables. But I consider myself very lucky to have this book.

What else can be said???

The other reviews say all: THIS BOOK IS FANTASTIC!!!!!

For love of Blackbird and country

If Brian Shul could ever hope to match the masterful style of Sled Driver, I believe he has done it with this book. All Brian's books are wonderful, but there is space reserved in my heart for reading about the wild performance of the SR-71. With help from his backseater, the tech reps, engineers and various others, he has succeeded in lofting us again to 80000 feet at mach 3.5, this time across Qaddafi's Line of Death for a very special mission, which only the Blackbird could complete with impunity. Filled with great photography and a teriffic story, this one has found a place of honor in my library to be read again and again.

Takes you into the cockpit on a real Libya Mission.

Once again the photographs by Brian Shul are spectacular and the story takes you right to the heart of the mission. The text by Walter Watson shows you what it is really like to be the backseater. And all the text by crews that worked with the jet in other forms, gives you truly the knowledge of just how much this jet entailed. So much manpower and teamwork. -This jet was vital to our country...... such a shame to see it out of commission.Excellent book. I recommend it for all to read.

Great behind the scenes view of an incredible Jet: the SR-71

Brian Shul has done it again! This might be called a sequel to SLED DRIVER; both give an incredible insight into the complexity and wonder that surround this superlative aircraft. The pictures are wonderful, and the thoughts he includes from those that created and maintained the plane make you feel a part of the program. Fascinating reading, beautiful photography - a worthy successor to SLED DRIVER about an unequalled aircraft. It makes you genuinely sad that this incredible program is dead; the plane that was so often shot at was ultimately shot down only by congress...
