If this book doesn’t work as a wake up call ...

... nothing will. While the author is optimistic about human’s ability to respond to climate change (eventually? sooner or later?), I am not. Reading his well-reasoned chapters, what emerges clearly is that the necessary changes in human behavior to significantly respond to climate change issues - to really make a difference and HALT the dire direction to which we are steering the world around us - are political. Thus, individuals who earnestly and proudly recycle, eschew disposable shopping bags, etc., won’t really make a difference. It’s a bit like being on a train hurtling toward an abyss and, instead of stopping the train, you’re rearranging pillows and blankets. This book should be read by every elected and appointed official.
