The Tunnels

I couldn't put this book down-read it in two days. Very descriptive and you really felt you were actually where they were watching. You know when you have read a great book is when you think you know who did it and you end up wrong close to the end of the book. Great characters great story. Some of it has true parts to it. The Tunnels do exist.

Michelle Gagnon has a winning debut here!

The Tunnels was an amazing debut from a talented new writer. The story grips you from the first and you can't put it down until the very exciting an shocking conclusion. Just when you think you have it all figured out you find out you were way off base. The characters are interesting and well developed. I am assuming that Kelly Jones, the FBI agent who is sent to her old alma mater to investigate the gory sacrificial death of a female student and daughter of a rich and powerful father, will be in further mysteries by this author. Soon Kelly learns that this isn't the first death and shortly after her arrival there are more. Deaths abound in the wake of this serial killer on the lose, and it is up to Kelly Jones and her partner Morrow with the help of an outside private agent and former FBI, Jake, to find him and quickly before more deaths. There are lots of twists and turns and an interesting history of the ancient rites of the Norsemen. Give this one a try, you won't be sorry. It will keep you reading into the night.

The First in a New Great Series

Check the basement. Lock all the windows and doors. Plug into your favorite chair and follow FBI Special Agent Kelly Jones and her partner as they pursue a relentless killer into the dank, black-hole darkness of "The Tunnels" by Michelle Gagnon. The long discarded labyrinth has become the gallery for a series of gruesome displays of ritualistic murder and mutilation. Joneses' dogged determination to stop the body count at her old alma mater leads her on a path with twists and turns aplenty as she delves into the mind of the killer and the case takes on a personal significance. Her stick-by-the-FBI-rulebook sensibilities are challenged by private security maverick and ex-agent, Jake Riley. Jones must stretch beyond the rules as she races head-on to stop and capture this butcher of innocent and vulnerable young women. Michelle Gagnon has crafted a tale worth telling in this first book about Special Agent Kelly Jones. I look forward eagerly to meeting her again in "Boneyard" in July of 2008.

Excellent thriller!

A serial killer lurks in THE TUNNELS beneath an esteemed New England college. FBI Special Agent Kelly Jones, along with her partner Agent Roger Morrow, is determined to find the perpetrator behind these brutal ritualistic slayings. What is the connection between the victims? Is it their wealthy fathers? Or is there a deeper, and much darker, meaning between the murders? What a creepy thriller! Michelle Gagnon cleverly intertwines ancient rituals, a serial killer, and a very eerie atmosphere together in one tightly written and thrilling package. Kelly Jones is a phenomenal lead character, but there are some other true unsung heroines in this tale. To reveal more would be spoiling the plot, but there are definitely some moments in this tale that will stand out vividly to me for quite some time to come. Michelle Gagnon perfectly captures the intensity of THE TUNNELS in so many powerful scenes. Imagery is crucial to the success of THE TUNNELS. From the dark, forbidding depths of THE TUNNELS themselves to the almost garish crime scenes with their horrific rituals, image is essential at creating the haunting atmosphere. Despite having such odd rituals included in the plotline, the very atmosphere of the storyline makes these rituals seem plausible and even real. THE TUNNELS is the sort of book that makes you want to sleep with the lights on. Michelle Gagnon has a hit on her hands with this phenomenal tale! COURTESY OF CK2S KWIPS AND KRITIQUES

You must read this!!

I just finished this book and I must say I'm very impressed. I couldn't put it down. I'm usually very skeptical about reading an author's first book, but Michelle Gagnon has a talent for storytelling. The characters are very likeable and believable, and the storyline is enthralling. I've never written a review before, but I felt I needed to for this one. If you like suspense, you have to read this book. It's on my list of favorites and I can't wait to see what Gagnon comes up with next!
