Multiculturalism and immigration exposed

It is undeniable that both Canada and the US are lands of immigrants. But until the last third of the 20th century, most of the immigration consisted of Europeans. New immigrants were eventually absorbed or assimilated into mainstream culture. But the author points out that the nature of immigration has changed. In recent decades much of the immigration has been from the third world and in the case of Canada from Asia. The sheer volume of immigration as well as the non-whiteness and ethnicity of the newcomers has created a situation where urban areas are literally being taken over, displacing the native-born. Multiculturalism has shoved aside assimilation as a basic philosophy of immigration. But what is the impact on the social fabric of a nation that accepts wide cultural diversity. The author points out that any stable nation depends on the common culture, common language, and shared experiences of its people. The Canadians have expressd displeasure with their changing status. Undoubtedly, in coming decades the situation will be exacerbated and the potential for social unrest will increase. The author contends that political and economic elites have basically been driving immigration policy since the middle 1960s. In the Cold War era, immigration was a propaganda tool to create a favorable impression of the West in the third world. But of greater significance has been the impact on the working class and their job prospects with a labor force swelled by immigration. Despite high unemployment immigration flows have been kept high. Since immigrants now largely fall into the category of a racial minority, complaints from the working class are cast as discriminatory - conveniently covering up the class warfare being waged by the elites. The fact is that most third world individuals would not be clamoring to come to the West if the economic and political situations in their countries could sustain decent lives. And the first world could help. It could help by not exploiting their cheap labor, adding to their monumental debts, and not draining off their best and the brightest to work in the first world. That is the ultimate solution. But that is not the agenda of multinational corporations. The book is not an academic treatise, but it is well argued with some perhaps unnecessary overlap in places. The author is surely correct to expose the class-nature of immigration and its potential to undermine a nation's social fabric.

Another wake up call for North America. Wake up! Wake up!

Mr. Taylor writes a great book about the horrible immigration problems in Canada. These problems in Canada cause horrible problems for those of us in the U.S. This book is not some right-wing rant. Mr. Taylor is politically left of center, but not blinded by unbridled, unfounded emotion like the far left. Mr. Taylor knows what he is talking about. He has worked for the Canadian government in several capacities that put him in a position to observe the causes and results of the immigration policy in North America. This book puts facts before feelings. This book is yet another wake up call for North America. It may be too late. Wake up! Wake Up!

Precursor to Pat Buchanans book "The Death of the West..."

This book is about Canada's immigration problems, which in turn creates a problem for America. Since it is exteremly easy to gain illegal entry into the U.S.A. all along our northern border, once legal entry into Canada is obtained. Just as the terrorist of the 9-11 attack on the WTC did. And legal entry into Canada has historically been easier than into the U.S.A.The author Mike Taylor brings out several important facts about immigration to both Canada and America. Immigration of the past 50 years is all about economic gains for the national and international corporations and not for the benefit of the immigrants themselves. The attempted globalization of the economy by the United Nations and the greed driven corporations has created the current immigration problems from the 3rd world countries into both Canada and the U.S. It is all about money for the elite class of people who control the government and industry. There is no need for these immigrants to assimilate and become like other citizens. Not in a country which enables them to stay segregated from the culture, via welfare and other socialist programs that allow these individuals to survive in what was once a foreign country to them. ...Taylor's book presents a logical and well founded critique of the problem and outlines the concerns of the current culture; although a bit redundant at times. His last line in the book may be the most significant. (Buy the book and read the last line yourself) Good Luck! I think it is too late to correct and change our destiny as to what was once a great country. I tell my children that the U.S.A. as we have known it since 1776 will not be in existence in 100 years, I am sorry to say. Thanks to things like the United Nations, a global economy, and open borders.

If you can bear to hear the truths you've spoken...

Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools...as Kipling reminds us in,"If," is the fate of the prophet not honored in his own country. Let us hope that Mr. Taylor fares better. Bringing up the subject of immigration exposed one to the full panoplay of leftis character assasination, including the use of their equivalent of the atomic bomb: "racist." This is true, even if the individual is,"left of center but right of Marx," as Mr. Taylor is. Canada's situation resembles the United States' in that, after a turn of the last century influx of eastern and southern Europeans, they had a de facto moratorium until the mid 1960s, when the floodgates were opened. Unlike previous immigrants, the newest settlers are non-white, and Europeans are not welcome. Canada differs from the US in that her immigrants come mostly from east and south Asia. The results are much the same, however: major cities where English is rarely heard on the streets, large, self-contained communities, where "assimilation" is not on the horizon, and displacement, not diversity, is the order of the day. The author blames both the Left and Right for this situation. He sees liberals welcoming immigrants because they dislike Western culture, and because they regard the native working class as being bought off and therefore too corrupt to become the proletariat vanguard of a true social revolution. "Conservatives" shoulder the blame because businesses focus on profits over all else, including national integrity. Capital is worldwide in scope, knowing no loyalty to people or place. (I put "conservative" in quotes because business tends to be amoral, and businessmen conservative only in narrow, economic terms.) The result of this situation is a Canada where Vancouver is an Asian city, where the dominant group discriminates against whites in employment, and from which whites flee in droves. The pressure on the middle class increases, as they have to compete against newcomers who have group solidarity and who network to support business formation, etc. The author directs his displeasure not at the enterprise and pluck of the newcomers, but at a system that forces them to come West to live well, and that ignores the reality that natives, with mortgages, families, and other ties to their homes, are not as mobile as capital, and cannot easily migrate to follow the jobs. In a system predicated upon the prepetuation of inequity in resource distribution, the immigrants are often victimized, in that their hope of a good life compels them to leave home for the other side of the world. The losers in this game are white males, as the protected classes are minorities and women. Who's left? White men. Diversity does not include them, or Western culture, neither of which are "celebrated" by the diversity crowd. It seems as if the greviances of all others get aired; if some group besides men (all colors) had a 94% share of workplace fatalities, as the author points out, th

Well reasoned dissection of Canadian immigration policies

If you expect a critique of mass immigration policies to be a steaming pile of right wing rhetoric, racist polemic and isolationist fear-mongering then you haven't read this book.Taylor's book is aimed at reforming Canada's immigration codes, but as the USA's policies are little different the logic holds no matter which side of the 49th parallel you reside on.Taylor maintains that the high levels of third world immigration into Canada have always been opposed by the majority of Canadians. The arguments made in their favor are almost entirely economic (sadly, never social or cultural) and are almost entirely wrong. The advoctes maintain that high levels of immigration are needed for economic growth. Taylor shows that this is not so, as high unemployment reveals that there are already more workers than necessary. Others state that immigrants' taxes are needed to bolster the retirement benefits of aging baby boomers; but the author shows that the boomers' children make up even a larger generation of tax-payers than the boomers themselves, negating any need for supplemental revenue building. Furthermore, the high numbers of immigrants (primarily Asian) who move into Canada often wind up in solidly non-white non-English (or French) speaking districts of large cities, effectively alienating themselves from the surrounding culture. Proponents of immigration call it cultural enrichment, but Taylor shows that as approximately half of all residents of Toronto and Vancouver cannot speak English, what is manifest is not cultural diversity but displacement. If immigrants were needed, which has not been demonstrated, it would be better to recruit them from post-communist Eastern European stock, which has proven highly assimilable in the past. The only reason I gave this work four stars, instead of five, is because I cannot completely endorse the author's leftist economic arguments (being something of a Libertarian-Nationalist myself). Yet the solutions Taylor presents to these immigration problems, I believe, would help my side as much as his.The truth about immigration is that no matter what side of the argument you fall on you need to know the facts; and the facts can be found in The Truth About Immigration.
