ESP in Our Lives

As time has passed, more and more people have questioned whether ESP exists. People are often fascinated by this subject and are interested in reading and sharing experiences related to this phenomenon. ESP stands for extrasensory perception and refers to the ability of a person to perceive, beyond the five senses that we are familiar with, something that you couldn't possibly perceive under the known laws of cause and effect. This book explains ESP and how it works and tries to illustrate its existence through many personal accounts, interviews with many scientists, and the author's opinion. I feel that the argument by the author is valid because he uses numerous appropriate authority figures and relevant information to support his findings and views about the existence of ESP. Psychic research separates phenomena into two categories: mental phenomena and physical phenomena. ESP phenomena are part of mental phenomena: clairvoyance (the ability to see beyond the limitations of space and time), clairaudience (hearing sounds, such as voices, that do not come from sources around the person experiencing them), telepathy (mind-to-mind communication), and psychometry (the ability to receive information from touching objects). Physical phenomena, such as trance and materializations, are not considered ESP phenomena, although ESP may very well be present in them. Precognition, also known as foreknowledge, is the ability to know about something before it actually happens, and in general is the only area where we can take action based on our ESP experience. Holzer believes that ESP is an extension of the ordinary five senses; he feels that everyone has it, so those who seem to be unaware of it are either ignoring it or suppressing it. Holzer also argues that ESP phenomena cannot be invoked just because someone wants them to occur, but rather they occur when there is a good reason for them to occur. He also says that anyone who has had even one psychic experience in his lifetime has ESP, anyone who has obtained specific information on events or people he is not familiar with in his conscious state has ESP, and anyone who has had insight into the future or the past without consciously being able to do so has ESP. People often have "hunches," illogical feelings about a person or event that change a person's thinking or actions, about something they think may occur in the future. If a hunch turns out to be right, Holzer argues that the person has had a mild ESP occurrence. Holzer argues that ESP does not make people act in specific ways or cause events to occur, though it may make us receive certain thoughts that we react to. As Holzer says, ESP is a power and channel of communication that is given to everyone and is not something you can simply buy or obtain through mind-study courses alone. The more we use it, the more of it we have. After explaining the different types of ESP and the ability of people to see into the future, Holzer explores t
