a family read

Not for the very young child, this book is a lovely family read. The story is taken from the point of view of a ten year old boy looking after his young sister on Christmas Eve, and it takes us with them on their adventure in discovering the truth or not about Santa Claus. The book is rooted in history, and all but the serious Christmas buff will have a few surprises discovering the reality of whether Santa Claus exists/ed. The style is refreshing and joyful, and the characterisation is realistic and fun. The author's understanding of childrens' issues is excellent, and the book is easy to read aloud to the family, accompanied by full colour pictures on each page.I would recommend this book to romantics and realists alike! I thoroughly enjoyed it, and hope for more on the way!
