Romantic Suspense

Ginna Gray gives us a wonderful, heartwarming, read. I found the characters very much to my liking, the story was great and not once did she need to use any of the usual devices to carry her plot and further the story. She gave me a love story, a suspense story, and a very well plotted tale. Elizabeth Stanton has lead a charmed life, until her unfaithful husband runs off with her money and her worst enemy. Unbroken by this she has struggled a year to come about and save her beloved home, Mimosa Landing, as well as protect her great-aunt who lives with her. Foolishly she had trusted her husband and given him power of attorney over her finances. She is at the end of her wits when two unexpected proposals are brought to her. Maxwell Riorden is a self made millionaire businessman who wants to enter the portals of high society to increase his business and make contacts in the greater business world. What he needs is someone with all the breeding, ancestory, and connections like Elizabeth. Knowing her financial situation he proposes to her. He will take care of her money worries and she can introduce him into her circle of friends. Circumstances force Elizabeth to make a choice and when they wed for convenience, both find they are getting more than their money's worth. Max, who has concentrated on business, finds a warm loving family to encompass him and Elizabeth finds a stalwart defender, both find the answer to a fulfilling life. When Elizabeth's life is threatened by an unknown person, Max can no longer deny her strength, dedication, compassion and honesty. Elizabeth finds the same in Max and togather they will find out who is trying to kill Elizabeth.
I have to give this one a * * * * * 5

To be honest, this book didn't rock my world or have me staying up all night to read it. However, GG's protrayal of Elizabeth & Max - and their absolute Night-To-Day differences - made the romantic in me want to believe that love conquers all. Yes, the "high society set" in which Elizabeth was a part of is a little hard to swallow, and yes, Max was a stubborn & irritating man. The mystery & intrigue of who was after Elizabeth did keep you guessing. All in all, it's just one of those books that you just "know" that there will be a happy ending. And what's wrong with that?!
Ginna Gray Never Disappoints!

Elizabeth Stanton was shocked when her ex-husband left her for another woman. Barely having had time to recover, she soon discovered that he had also taken pretty much all of her family's fortune with him when he left. Just when it appears that Elizabeth's beloved family home, Mimosa Landing, may be lost, Maxwell Reardon appears with a stunning proposal, marry him and he'll help her rebuild her family's fortune. Max is a man who has built a fortune with his hard work, but his money and business contacts have not helped him find his place in Houston society. Max hopes that by marrying a born and bred Houston socialite, he can finally find acceptance. He's always admired Elizabeth and knows that marriage to her will not be a hardship. Neither of them expect that what began as a business arrangement would become something so much more. Can they find something with each other that they never expected? You can't miss with The Trophy Wife! Elizabeth is a character that readers will immediately come to love and Max is just the sort of romance hero that I love to read about. A classic romance story of a marriage of convenience which turns to love, readers will find themselves deeply involved with Elizabeth and Max and won't want the book to end. I've never been disappointed by any Ginna Grey book and The Trophy Wife is a perfect example of why. Melissa Reviewed for Joyfully Reviewed
