Book Overview

For the readers of Olivia Goldsmith and Susan Isaacs comes a dramatic - and fun - thriller with an over-the-top ending that will leave readers gasping. For twenty-five years Emily Childs has been the perfect wife. She has devoted herself completely to her successful husband, Walter, on his climb to the top of the banking world, kept his home, raised his children, and entertained his clients. Now he is about to dump her for the younger, more beautiful...

The trophy for best kidnapper goes to......

This is a pretty good thriller which is extremely exciting in the scenes with Emily and her tormentors. If the book was all like this it would have been five stars in rating easily but the lengthy scenes with Walter and other secondary characters do drag on from time to time giving the book a slightly less over all rating. Great thriller though, highly recommended. Current edition in Australia has none of thesse numerous typos some reviewers are going on about. If they bought books full of typos why did they not return them as they are obviously cheap rip off copies and not originals.Emily Childs, wife of Walter a banker who is at the top of his industry and in charge of billions of dollars of accounts is violently kidnapped. The kidnapper wants one hundred million wired to an account in the Cayman Islands by Monday or Emily dies. If Walter tells the police or his employer (they have a strict policy not to negotiate with terrorists or other extortionists) Emily dies. Even though he was about to dump his wife in favour of his much younger assistant and by following company policy under these circumstances he will more than likely be promoted, guilt and pressure from others plays on Walter's mind to do the right thing and pay off the kidnappers to save his wife's life. Andrew Hogan is an ex cop who left the force because he didn't want to be in anyone's pocket and is the bank's head of security so is the only man Walter can trust to get Emily back. Greed however is creeping into the minds of those holding Emily and she must be found before it is too late.

My First Suspense Novel, I'm Hooked!

This was my first suspense novel; I was very pleased. The story line kept me intrigued. The editing could have been better, but overall, I loved it and I do recommend this book.

A Great Book for First-Time Suspense Reading

Before reading, "The Trophy Wife" I wasn't really into suspense novels. But the title made me want to know what this story was all about. Towards the end of the book, you have a good idea who was Emily Child's kidnappers. But at the end, you cheer for her as she breaks free from her egotistic husband.

Not your typical thriller!

An excellent read, a thinking persons thriller! Ms. Diamond has done a good job of weaving a complicated plot with complex beliviable chacters. Walter a bank executive is about to give his wife the boot for a younger woman when she is kidnapped. The kidnappers ask for $100,000,000 ransome and this is when the fun starts. You have to read the rest your self but it has a very satisfing ending. If you like well though out, belivable thrillers, that keep you guessing I also recomend "A Tourist in the Yucatan"

A very good Read!

Everyone seems suspect in the kidnapping of Emily Childs, and Diamond keeps you guessing throughout this suspenseful novel. A surprising (but fitting) ending will leave readers satisfied (and wondering who Diana Diamond really is!)
